Instant Pot Sloppy Joes

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 large onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves minced garlic
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2/3 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 2/3 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon corn starch

Instructions

  • Warm Instant Pot using satue function.  Once warm, add ground beef and garlic.
  • Combine ketchup, brown sugar, tomato paste, mustard, vinegar, chili powder, and Worcestershire
  • If any fat remains once meat is brown, drain it and return meat to pot.
  • Add celery, peppers and onion.  Cook 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Turn Instant Pot off and add ketchup mixture and broth.
  • Cook on high pressure using manual function for 7 minutes.  Perform quick release once cycle is complete.
  • Mix together water and starch in small bowl.  Put pot back into satue mode and stir in starch mixture.  Cook 1-2 minutes or until sauce is thick.
  • Serve on your favorite buns.
